In this museum you will see the history of Barcelona from its early beginnings to its heyday in the Middle Ages. Its main draw is an underground ruin with the remains of Roman buildings.
During the excavation work necessary to build the new foundations for the palace, remains of the old Roman city were uncovered. From 1930 until 1960 a large area, stretching under the Plaça del Rei, was excavated. To better preserve these remains, it was decided to move Barcelona’s city museum to this site, and the museum opened started in 1973.

The wonderful feature is that the Roman City was excavated under the existing modern city. As you wander the ruins, you walk under a roadway and Plaza supported by beams and pillars.

Some ancient stuffs and other crafts could be appreciated, though it doesn’t make for exciting photos, it is still very interesting and I highly recommend it that…
