Tooth Of The Day

Relationship

Relationship

***

Falling in love and having a relationship are two different things.

***

“I mean, if the relationship can’t survive the long term,
why on earth would it be worth my time and energy for the short term?”
― Nicholas Sparks

***

“Well, it seems to me that the best relationships – the ones that last -are frequently the ones that are rooted in friendship.

You know, one day you look at the person and you see something more than you did the night before.

Like a switch has been flicked somewhere. And the person who was just a friend is…

suddenly the only person you can ever imagine yourself with.”

― Gillian Anderson

***

“It’s no good pretending that any relationship has a future if your record collections disagree violently

or if your favorite films wouldn’t even speak to each other if they met at a party.”
― Nick Hornby

***
The only real security is not in owning or possessing, not in demanding or expecting, not in hoping, even.
Security in a relationship lies neither in looking back to what it was,
nor forward to what it might be, but living in the present and accepting it as it is now.

” The Wisdom of a Little Boy “

Grandpa- Wisdom of a little boy

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year-old grandson. The old man’s hands trembled, his eye sight was blurred, and his steps faltered. The family ate together at the table, but the elderly grandfather’s shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the glass, milk spilled onto the tablecloth. The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the messes.

“We must do something about Father,” said the son. “I’ve had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.”

The husband and wife set a small table in the corner. Grandfather ate alone there while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner. Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl. When the family glanced in Grandfather’s direction, sometimes he had a tear in his eye as he sat alone. Still, the only words the couple had for him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food. The four-year-old watched it all in silence.

One evening before dinner, the father noticed his son playing with wood scraps on the floor. He asked the child sweetly, “What are you making.”

Just as sweetly, the boy responded, “Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and Mama to eat your food from when I grow up.” The four-year-old smiled and went back to work.

The words so struck the parents that they were speechless. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done.

That evening, the husband took Grandfather’s hand and gently led him back to the family table. For the remainder of his days, he ate every meal with the family. For some reason, neither the husband nor the wife seemed to care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk was spilled, or the tablecloth was soiled.

You will remember this tale tomorrow, a week from now, a month from now, a year from now.

On a positive note, ponder the following lessons learned:

1. No matter what hap pens and no matter how bad things seem today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.

2. You can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles the following things: a rainy day, the elderly, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.

3. Regardless of your relationship with your parents, you will miss them when they are gone from your life.

4. Making a “living” is not the same thing as making a “life.”

5. Life sometimes gives you a second chance.

6. You should not go through life with catcher’s mitts on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back.

7. If you pursue happiness, it will elude you, but if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others, your work, and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.

8. Whenever you decide something with an open heart, you usually make the right decision.

9. Even when you have pains, you don’t have to be one.

10. Everyday, you should reach out and touch some -one; people love that human touchholding hands, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.

11. You still have a lot to learn!

You should pass this on to everyone you care about!

Need And Greed

A boat docked in a tiny Mexican fishing village.  A tourist complimented the local fishermen on the quality of their fish and asked how long it took him to catch them.

“Not very long.” they answered in unison.
“Why didn’t you stay out longer and catch more?”

The fishermen explained that their small catches were sufficient to meet their needs and those of their families.

“But what do you do with the rest of your time?”

“We sleep late, fish a little, play with our children, and take siestas with our wives.
In the evenings, we go into the village to see our friends, have a few drinks, play the guitar, and sing a few songs.

We have a full life.”

The tourist interrupted, “I have an MBA from Harvard and I can help you!  You should start by fishing longer every day.   You can then sell the extra fish you catch.  With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat.”

“And after that?”

“With the extra money the larger boat will bring, you can buy a second one and a third one and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers.  Instead of selling your fish to a middle man, you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants and maybe even open your own plant.

You can then leave this little village and move to Mexico City, Los Angeles, or even New York City !

From there you can direct your huge new enterprise.”

“How long would that take?”

“Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years.” replied the tourist.

“And after that?”

“Afterwards? Well my friend, that’s when it gets really interesting, ” answered the tourist, laughing. “When your business gets really big, you can start buying and selling stocks and make millions!”

“Millions? Really? And after that?” asked the fishermen.

“After that you’ll be able to retire,
live in a tiny village near the coast,
sleep late, play with your children, (or grandchildren by that time), catch a few fish, take a siesta with your wife and spend your evenings drinking and enjoying your friends.”

“With all due respect sir, but that’s exactly what we are doing now. So what’s the point wasting twenty-five years?” asked the Mexicans.

And the moral lesson of this story is:

Know where you’re going in life…

You may already be there…

For all people in love… Diana by Paul Anka

Revisited

When I was little, I listened with my Mom 50′s and 60′s Album Collections…They were all downloaded in my brain even when I was just inside her womb, I believe this, haha, so that now when I hear this song –  ”I’m so young and you’re so old, this my darling I’ve been told, I don’t care just what they say, coz’ forever I will pray…Oh please stay by me Diana….” Oh, wow! This song would really make my day.  It uplifts my spirit too.  This song is like a lullaby to me.  I just love its lyrics and melody…

Christy Hengel, Is One of a Few Manufacturers of Concertinas in the U.S. Today. He Hand Crafts His Instrument Which Is Noted for Its Special Sound and Sells for $1,100…

Paul Anka, Tom Jones, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Bee Gees, are top albums I listened to the most while growing up usually with my mom. She had collections of them. Although I am a jazz-kind-of-a-hip-hop music lover, I still enjoy listening  to them.  To me these albums are lovely, classical and immortal…

How about you guys, would you like to share us those top albums you listened too while growing up?
You can use the comment below and if you have any video responses, it would be very nice too.  Just post them below in the comment area.  Merci 🙂

And while you are doing that, you can brew your coffee and let’s drink it up hot and fresh… hmmm taste good as always!

Toothsome Is Crying Her Heart Out For Syria

Free Syria

Help Free Syria!

***

***

One of my colleagues who happens to be my best friend here is a Syrian.  I went to visit his Dental Office to give him some sweet and he broke me the news that his University was bombed by their Government Military and around 100 students died.  Click here.

I asked about how his parents are coping with their day to day living, because the last time I talked to his mom was like 3 years ago and Syria was still peaceful back then.

He said that they already lost their family house and everything in there were all stolen and now his parents moved to his house.  His parents and siblings are all there.  He tried to get them and bring them here but unfortunately the  Government here had stopped issuing visa for the Syrian people.  He said they do not have electricity, plus it’s winter too, so his father now of 85 years old is sick.  I asked him if there is a way for them to come out from Syria and go to nearby countries.  He said there is no more airport in Syria and if they will go to Turkey, the refugee camp there is not so accommodating and people are mistreated.  So his parents decided to just stay in his house to live and if they die or got bombed or killed then they die.  They just leave it to God’s mercy.

I just found myself in tears.  How there are people who wish to harm other people only to gain power.

My heart goes to Syrian people and I hope and pray that they will soon be free.

I visited Syria last 2005, and it was really a beautiful country.  Photos below were taken in Aleppo Citadel.  October, 2005.

D D D

And today their own people destroyed their own country.  It’s really sad 😦

Is there anything we can do about it?  Well personally I do not really know how but the only thing I know for sure that I could do is to offer my prayers for them.

I would like to end this post with this country song by Ricky Skaggs. Enjoy!
As we all know Toothsome, she always like us to end our days with a smile 🙂
