Christmas

Merry Christmas***

“Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred,
and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time.”
Laura Ingalls Wilder

“Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.”
Charles M. Schulz

“I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet
The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

***

“A lovely thing about Christmas is that it’s compulsory, like a thunderstorm, and we all go through it together.”
Garrison Keillor

***

Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind.
To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.

***

Christmas, my child, is love in action. Every time we love, every time we give, it’s Christmas.

***
Christmas… is not an external event at all, but a piece of one’s home that one carries in one’s heart.

***
I love Christmas, not just because of the presents
but because of all the decorations and lights and the warmth of the season.

***

Merry Christmas, Everyone!

is that you spend 12 hours shopping for it
then go home and cook, chop, braise and blanch.
Then it’s gone in 20 minutes and everybody lies around

Our theme for this month of November is

Thank You….

“No restrictions on genres or decades – if it has Thank You in the title, it’s good to go.”

And here is my entry:

Bon Jovi – Thank You For Loving Me

Thank You For Loving Me

It´s hard for me to say the things
I want to say sometimes
There´s no one here but you and me
And that broken old street light
Lock the doors
leave the world outside
All I´ve got to give to you
Are these five words when I

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn´t see
For parting my lips
When I couldn´t breathe
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me

I never knew I had a dream
Until that dream was you
When I look into your eyes
The sky´s a different blue
Cross my heart
I wear no disguise
If I tried, you´d make believe
That you believed my lies

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn´t see
For parting my lips
When I couldn´t breathe
Thank you for loving me

You pick me up when I fall down
You ring the bell before they count me out
If I was drowning you would part the sea
And risk your own life to rescue me

Lock the doors
leave the world outside
All I´ve got to give to you
Are these five words when I

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn´t see
For parting my lips
When I couldn´t breathe

Thank you for loving me
When I couldn´t fly
Oh, you gave me wings
You parted my lips
When I couldn´t breathe
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me
Oh, for loving me.

“THANK YOU”  is the theme I chose for our Music Passion-November.  That is also to give my thanks to all of you.  I am now in WP for 2 years and so I thank each and everyone here in this blogging community for your continuous support in my blog.  You are all wonderful people and I love you all.

Also Thanksgiving Day is on the air already…  as stated in Wikipedia:

Thanksgiving Day (Jour de l’Action de grâce in Canadian French) is a national holiday celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Several other places around the world observe similar celebrations. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and on the second Monday of October in Canada. Thanksgiving has its historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, and has long been celebrated in a secular manner as well.

So “THANK YOU” is so perfect for November Edition 🙂

That I MAY BE TRULY THANKFUL FOR ALL MY BLESSINGS

My Thanksgiving Day Prayer

My dear loving Father in Heaven, whose glory filled all things, this is the time when I come to You not with a wish or a plea, but with a song – a song of Thanksgiving for You!

You know how many times I come to You with questions and fears.  Yet, truly I am thankful that You always calm my fears and answer my questions.

But today, my dear Father, I come to You for I want to learn to be thankful for all my blessings, for such blessings as love and health and happy friendships and home life.

Help me, my dear Father, to be thankful for what I have – so that starting with that, You may increase it more and more.  May I always be thankful for all these good things, dear Father – for my life and my living and for the wonderful joy of family, especially for my mom who already in Your Kingdom had helped me understand the wonder of Your love, for my faithful friends, and to all my new friends here at WordPress, and other co-bloggers who, just like me, have a lot to share too around the world.  For I believe each of us are here for a reason.

Yes, help me to be doubly thankful for this privilege of praying to You, my dear Father.  But above all, may I be thankful for Your greatest gift, Your Son, my Saviour, who, though He was great, humbled himself that I might live more abundantly and be lifted up.  In Jesus name.
– Amen

The man and his eagle (revisited) contrib by Fredie M.

This has been around before, but it is a good one… ‘thought it would be nice to share with you all 🙂

This is the kind of story you need when it seems like the world is spiraling out of control..

Not many people get a picture of this proud bird
snuggled up next to them

Freedom and Jeff
Freedom and I have been together 10 years this summer.
She came in as a baby in 1998 with two broken
wings. Her left wing doesn’t open all the way
even after surgery, it was broken in 4
places.   She’s my baby.

When Freedom came in she could not stand
and both wings were broken. She was
emaciated and covered in lice. We made the
decision to give her a chance at life, so I took
her to the vets office.   From then
on, I was always around her. We had her in a
huge dog carrier with the top off,  and it
was loaded up with shredded newspaper for her to
lay in.  I used to sit and talk to her,
urging her to live, to fight; and she would lay
there looking at me with those big brown eyes.
We also had to tube feed her for weeks.

This went on for 4-6 weeks, and by then she still
couldn’t stand. It got to the point where the
decision was made to euthanize her if she
couldn’t stand in a week. You know you don’t
want to cross that line between torture and
rehab, and it looked like death was
winning.   She was going to be put
down that Friday, and I was supposed to come in
on that Thursday afternoon. I didn’t want to go
to the center that Thursday, because I couldn’t
bear the thought of her being euthanized;
but I went anyway, and when I walked in everyone
was grinning from ear to ear.  I went
immediately back to her cage; and there she was,
standing on her own, a big beautiful
eagle.  She was ready to live.  I was
just about in tears by then.   That
was a very good day.

We knew she could never fly,  so the director
asked me to glove train her. I got her used to
the glove, and then to jesses,  and we
started doing education programs for schools in
western  Washington
.   We wound up in the newspapers,
radio (believe it or not) and some
TV.   Miracle Pets even did a show about us.

In the spring of 2000,  I was diagnosed with
non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.  I had stage 3,
which is not good (one major organ plus
everywhere), so I wound up doing 8 months of
chemo.   Lost the hair – the whole
bit.   I missed a lot of work. When I
felt good enough,   I would go to Survey
and take Freedom out for walks. Freedom would
also come to me in my dreams and help me fight
the cancer. This happened time and time again.

Fast forward to November 2000, the day after
Thanksgiving.   I went in for my last
checkup. I was told that if the cancer was not
all gone after 8 rounds of chemo, then my last
option was a stem cell transplant. Anyway, they
did the tests; and I had to come back Monday for
the results.  I went in Monday, and I was
told that all the cancer was gone.

So the first thing I did was get up to Survey and
take the big girl out for a walk. It was misty
and cold. I went to her flight and jessed her
up, and we went out front to the top of the
hill. I hadn’t said a word to Freedom, but somehow she knew. She looked at me
and wrapped both her wings around me to where I
could feel them pressing in on my back
(I was engulfed in eagle wings), and she
touched my nose with her beak and stared into my
eyes, and we just stood there like that
for I don’t know how long.  That was a
magic moment.  We have been soul mates ever
since she came in. This is a very special bird.

On a side note: I have had people who
were sick come up to us when we are out, and
Freedom has some kind of hold on
them.   I once had a guy who was
terminal come up to us and I let him hold
her.  His knees just about buckled and he
swore he could feel her power coarse through his
body. I have so many stories like that.

I never forget the honor I have of being so close
to such a magnificent spirit as Freedom.

Hope you enjoy this.

Happy Thanksgiving Day

My baby pic. My mom said I was a healthy baby, she had no any idea that I had a congenital defect...

When I was 10 years old, I got sick. I was diagnosed to have a branchial cyst (a congenital defect) 10 years after I was born.  My mom of course was surprised.

I had my first surgery when I was 11 years old.  It was not successful.  So the lymph nodes located on the right side of my neck kept coming back.

The growth of the cyst would start to appear after one month from its eruption.  It would grow slowly and gradually for a period of 2 or 3 months until it would reach its peak and become swollen.  The inflammatory process would occur for 4 to 5 days, sometimes to 10 days.  During this time I would feel tremendous pain and I would just stay home and my activities would become limited.  I would know also when it was time for it to erupt because the movable fistula would be soft and tender to touch and the excruciating pain brought from it, would start to vanish. Then it would recur back and start to accumulate pus, then it would erupt and grow back again and so on and all over again…  I never stopped coming to school though even from my grades school, to  high school , up to my college years.  So that during those times that I would get sick I would normally miss my classes, quizzes and exams.  I was lucky that I got good grades on all of my academic subjects and my professors would always allow me to take special exams.

I developed insecurity too during my high school days because of the scar on my neck from surgery.  But when I was 15 years old, I regained back my confidence because my dad introduced me to Yoga.  He gave me a Yoga book which I studied and followed religiously.  And when I entered College. I was even more happy that I won the title “Miss Orientation”.  It was a beauty and brain contest for all Freshmen Students.  And not only that on our Sports Fest that school year I became the representative for all Freshmen students to compete with the higher levels – the second year students, the third year students to 4th year students to win the title for the Miss University.  And guess what?  I won the Title.  I felt really blessed in spite of being a sick girl as me to have won those Titles.  The Secret Book was not discovered yet but the attitude that I learned from the Yoga Book that my dad gave me was of great help in gaining back my confidence to always think of JOY, PEACE, SMILE, LOVE.  Plus spirituality- the Faith that I always have with God.

Finally, I underwent my second and last surgery when I reached the age of 21. We found a EENT Specialist who correctly identified and diagnosed my illness.  He suggested another surgery which was a success.

I thank God that mine was not malignant. But imagine to have a chronic disease for about ten years of your life?  It was of course, difficult years of my life but with all of the love and care of my mom,( who already passed away last January 2002), and my dad,who at the age of 78 years still strong and healthy, I was able to cope with it.  Big plus of course, my gratefulness to my Father Above for His unending love and strength He provided me, then and up to this very moment and to more joyful days to come.

I wrote the following poems when I was 12 to 14 years old.  I am happy to share them with you.

GOD

Every time I feel gloomy
I come to your side
To seek for your comfort
You’re the only one
Who can understand me
And you’re always there
To help me

You are my best friend
As well as my Father in Heaven
Telling all the bad things I’ve done
And asking for your forgiveness
Trying to be a good girl of yours
Because I know you’re going to get
Me someday to live with you forever

And

When I feel happy as I always do
Still I am there with you, sharing
All my gladness and joys and I feel
That you’re happy too
Maybe I’ll never feel happy
As I am now
If you would forsake me…

But I know and I believe
That you would not
Because you love me so much
More than I know
And I am going to live
With you forever…

FROM HERE TO THERE

From here, I can feel you
That magic touch of your hands
Gently rested with mine
To assure I am with you

From here, I can hear you
That voice commanding me
To tell everyone to love you
To make them all brand new

From here, I can tell you
That I want you to be mine
To serve you with all my heart
Willing to live with you

And so I will be here
Just to wait for you to come
For you’ll bring me to your home
And we’ll both be happy there.

HE LOVES ME

I can feel his presence
That He’s in me
And I can tell with sense
He really do love me

He used to guide my way
He would want me
To be good everyday
Because He loves me…

WITH HIM I’LL ABIDE

In my bed, here I lain
Cannot stand the pain
For seven I’m in vain
Wanting to stop the rain

But

I trust almighty God
He’ll never make me sad
He’s always in my side
And with HIm I’ll abide…
