Visiting Interlaken

I started my journey from Paris Gare Lyon 🇫🇷to Basel then to Interlaken🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

I was really freezing while waiting for my train to Switzerland.🥶…then like 5 minutes after arrival to Basel, I need to hop on another train right away going to Interlaken.

And while on train, here are some of the sceneries.

I visited my long time friend after like 40 years. She married a Swiss and they have 2 daughters. I just met one of her daughters though. They are all sweet and warm people. They welcomed me in their house so generously🤗

On my first day, my friend who I am so fond with like my own big sister treated me a dinner at this famous hotel, the “Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel”

We ordered our food and had a great meal. We were both so full afterwards🤗🤗🤗

The following day, I woke up and went to the garden and just enjoyed the morning breeze….

So beautiful views….

“The morning breeze has secrets to tell you. Do not go back to sleep.” ~rumi~

After a hearty breakfast, we walked around the city afterwards…

We had so much fun too like children😬😁😀

On my second night. We went out drinking red wine and tequila. What a combination, right? So what would you expect happened afterwards?

Anyways we both had a very good sleep that we thought we would miss going to the top of Interlaken.

But no, not a chance. Though we struggled waking up. We went up still to the “Harder-Kulm” 😁😄😃

When we reached the top “Harderkulm”, she said I have to try the “Swiss Cheese Fondue”.

Wow! It was really true cheesy and delicious😋😋😋

Three nights and four days spent in Interlaken was really joyful.

“People don’t take trips, trips take people”, and thanks to my big sister and friend, Rosemarie. Her warm welcome to me made my trip to Interlaken as awesome as possible, in-spite of the fact that it was really freezing at this season.

She said, I must come back during summer and promised that I will enjoy more😍

Thanks so much big sister. Until next trip😘❤️

Health And Fitness

Hey guys, I just like to update you with my health and fitness program.

Last month April 1, I found out the following:

  • Strength Assessment– Excellent… It means I can carry even one sack of rice by myself alone…   hmmm very nice 🙂 hahaha
  • Flexibility: Poor….   well this one I believe there was a mistake from the machine… LOL
  • My Body Age according to the machine: 55…   another mistake LOL 🙂
  • Over all I am healthy but, but a big BUT… my Fat Mass is higher from my  ideal range (20.5%-base on my weight of 55kg. ) Mine is 38.5%…   Wow! so I need to burn those excess fat from my body to be more healthy and prevent any serious health risk that I might encounter in the future.

My GOAL:

Weight:  42-45kg (if I get rid off my excess Fat Mass, this should be my ideal weight)

Body toning and firming….   34-24-34…   Wow!

  • And as of today, May 18,  I weigh 51Kg.
    I lost 4 kilo.  Wow!
I also lost 4 inches in my waistline.
    Great isn’t it?

Health and Fitness continues, until next update 🙂

Chocolate Mouse

I will try to make this 🙂 Thanks for posting Polly! xoxo

journalread

This is my favourite recipe for chocolate mousse, the simplest I’ve ever come across—if I can do it, you can too, and it is delicious 🙂

1choc mousse

Ingredients
100g dark chocolate, plus a little extra for shaving to decorate the top
30g butter
4 egg yolks
50g caster sugar
4 egg whites

Method
1. In a bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter in a microwave on ‘defrost’ (approx a minute), stir well to combine the two then leave the bowl to one side and allow the chocolate to cool.
2. Whisk the egg yolks and 40g of the sugar for around 2-3 minutes until the mixture is considerably thicker, appearing to become fluffy. Pour in the cooling chocolate and mix gently together.
3. Get the egg whites and whisk well together in a large bowl until they have stiffened, but are not dry. Add the rest of the sugar and…

Dolly’s Gifts… A Short Fiction Story by JAuroraMorealist … And Now I Challenge You!

Revisited:

By the age of eight, ginger-haired Dolly and her flaxen-haired friend Rosemary were old hands at life and privately giggled behind their hands at their parents. Not in a nasty way, just in the “oh, all right, then, Mummy” way that little girls and boys often do. Inseparable was what their parents all called the girls. On a bleak holiday afternoon with no school for days, Rosemary was away visiting her grandparents and Dolly found herself alone again in the house with one of the servants.

“Balvir, what are you doing?” Dolly asked, her curious, freckled nose poking over the counter as she stood watching the slim woman straining a white mixture through cheese cloth.

“I am making paneer,” Balvir said.

“I love paneer! Can I help?”

Dolly’s eager hands knocked the bowl over before Balvir could react. The clots of cheese dribbled down the counter onto the floor and Balvir’s cloth dangled from one hand. Dolly instantly shut her big, blue eyes and her shoulders automatically hunched up together, waiting…  Balvir spoke quickly.

“Don’t worry, Dolly, we will make again, I need you help me.”

She smiled and Dolly relaxed into the warmth of the kitchen, the fragrances of goodness and safety that would wrap her in comfort long into the future.

Rosemary arrived home with gifts, full of stories of fun with her parents and grandparents, snowy sleigh rides, bells, hot cocoa, sparkling city lights on all the towers around Big Ben and an unexpected surprise for Dolly.

“So what did you do while I was away,” she asked, as soon as the two were settled in Rosemary’s frilly pink bedroom. Rosemary wore her new red velvet Christmas dress with shoes to match. Even the ribbons in her braided hair were exactly the same shade of red as the dress.

Dolly thought about this and brightened, “I made paneer with Balvir!”

“Oh, so what,” Rosemary said. “So you made cheese. Who cares about that, anybody can do that. What else did you do?”

Again, Dolly fell quiet.

“I love Balvir. She is the kindest person I know,” Dolly said, twirling one of her soft ginger curls around a finger like a corkscrew.

“Oh, bloody hell, she’s a servant and she is cinnamon skinned, why would you love her?” Rosemary asked.

Busy pulling her cache out to display for Dolly, she failed to notice Dolly had already moved to the door.

Dolly yanked the door open with one hand and turned to answer Rosemary who was now paying attention. At full attention, frozen with all her pretty gifts in her hands just the way Dolly would remember her forever.

“Balvir’s skin is REAL! And it’s not cheese, it’s PANEER, you idiot!”

Dolly ran all the way home before she realized that she still held the gift she’d meant to give Rosemary in her hand.  A handmade gift she had fashioned with Balvir’s help, a Christmas tree ornament they’d painted over with a map of the world, the land all gold, the waters all blue, the same beautiful lands and waters that separated Balvir from her family.  Once inside her own bedroom, Dolly tore the tag off the gift and replaced it with a new, larger tag that read:

Happy Christmas to Balvir my beloved best friend.
With love forever from  Dolly.

CUCUMBER. Wow!! What A Little Gem The Cucumber Is…

Revisited:

“ Helpful Home Hints

WOW!!  WHAT A LITTLE GEM THE CUCUMBER IS.

I WILL LOOK AT IT DIFFERENTLY NOW.

1. Cucumbers contain most of the vitamins you need every day, just one cucumber contains Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Folic Acid, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Zinc.

2. Feeling tired in the afternoon, put down the caffeinated soda and pick up a cucumber. Cucumbers are a good source of B Vitamins and Carbohydrates that can provide that quick pick-me-up that can last for hours.

3. Tired of your bathroom mirror fogging up after a shower? Try rubbing a cucumber slice along the mirror, it will eliminate the fog and provide a soothing, spa-like fragrance.

4. Are grubs and slugs ruining your planting beds? Place a few slices in a small pie tin and your garden will be free of pests all season long. The chemicals in the cucumber react with the aluminum to give off a scent undetectable to humans but drive garden pests crazy and make them flee the area.

5. Looking for a fast and easy way to remove cellulite before going out or to the pool? Try rubbing a slice or two of cucumbers along your problem area for a few minutes, the phytochemicals in the cucumber cause the collagen in your skin to tighten, firming up the outer layer and reducing the visibility of cellulite. Works great on wrinkles too!!!

6.  Want to avoid a hangover or terrible headache? Eat a few cucumber slices before going to bed and wake up refreshed and headache free. Cucumbers contain enough sugar, B vitamins and electrolytes to replenish essential nutrients the body lost, keeping everything in equilibrium, avoiding both a hangover and headache!!

7. Looking to fight off that afternoon or evening snacking binge? Cucumbers have been used for centuries and often used by European trappers, traders and explorers for quick meals to thwart off starvation.

8. Have an important meeting or job interview and you realize that you don’t have enough time to polish your shoes? Rub a freshly cut cucumber over the shoe, its chemicals will provide a quick and durable shine that not only looks great but also repels water.

9. Out of WD 40 and need to fix a squeaky hinge? Take a cucumber slice and rub it along the problematic hinge, and voila, the squeak is gone!

10. Stressed out and don’t have time for massage, facial or visit to the spa? Cut up an entire cucumber and place it in a boiling pot of water, the chemicals and nutrients from the cucumber will react with the boiling water and be released in the steam, creating a soothing, relaxing aroma that has been shown to reduce stress in new mothers and college students during final exams.

11. Just finish a business lunch and realize you don’t have gum or mints? Take a slice of cucumber and press it to the roof of your mouth with your tongue for 30 seconds to eliminate bad breath, the phytochemcials will kill the bacteria in your mouth responsible for causing bad breath.

12. Looking for a ‘green’ way to clean your faucets, sinks or stainless steel? Take a slice of cucumber and rub it on the surface you want to clean, not only will it remove years of tarnish and bring back the shine, but it won’t leave streaks and won’t harm you fingers or fingernails while you clean.

13. Using a pen and made a mistake?  Peel off the cucumber and slowly use its skin or outer part to erase the pen writing, also works great on crayons and markers that the kids have used to decorate the walls!!

14. To quench your thirst? HOW ABOUT A CUCUMBER JUICE?

Cucumber Juice

makes 1 1/2 – 2 cups

Ingredients

1 English cucumber (the skinny kind in plastic)
1/4 cup sugar
2 cups water

Instructions

Peel the cucumber, saving the peels.  Use a box grater to grate the cucumber into a bowl.

Bring sugar and water to a boil in a pot, add the grated cucumber and simmer 10 minutes.  Pour contents of the pot into a blender and add the cucumber peels.  Puree completely.

Place a strainer over a bowl or pitcher, line the strainer with cheesecloth.  Pour the cucumber puree through the cheesecloth.  When most of the liquid has drained through, gather the sides and squeeze any remaining juice from the cheesecloth.

Chill at least one hour, serve over ice (if desired) and garnish with cucumber slices.

Approximate cost/serving: Only $1.10 for the batch (for the cucumber and the sugar).  This made four servings for us so just 28 cents a serving.

Vegetarian/Gluten Free: Yes and yes!

15. Ladies…  running out of dates lately? mmmm would you think a cucumber could save you from what they called “that itch”?

Here are some of the cucumbers you could choose from:

English cucumber

Japanese cucumber

Mediterranean cucumber

Persian cucumber

Regular cucumber

Pass this along to everybody you know who is looking for better and safer ways to solve life’s everyday problems
Oooops! Exclude #15 I was just kidding, hehehe

Have fun and keep on blogging 🙂

Eating Fruits

Most of us think that eating fruits means just buying the fruits, cutting it, and just popping it into our mouths. It’s not as easy as you think. It’s important to know how and when to eat fruit.
What is the correct way of eating fruits?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS! * FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.
If you eat fruit by itself, the process will play a major role in detoxifing your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss, and other life activities.

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD. Let’s say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so by the bread.

In the meantime, the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the bread or other food in the stomach, plus the digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil.

So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complain — every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc.  Actually all this will not arise, if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the other putrefying food and produces gas and, hence, you will bloat!

Greying hair, balding, nervous outburst and dark circles under the eyes will NOT happen, if you eat fruits on an empty stomach.

There is no such thing as eating some fruits, like orange and lemon because they are acidic.  All fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton, who did research in this area. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

When To Drink Fruit Juice:  Drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from a can. Don’t  drink juice that has been heated. Don’t eat cooked fruits, because you don’t get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.

Eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it slowly mouthful by mouthful, so the juice can mix with your saliva before it is swallowed.

You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fresh fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!  Use organic fruits whenever possible.

KIWI: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids that enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack, and stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

ORANGE : Sweetest medicine. Eating 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones, as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.

WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. It is also a key source of lycopene — the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C and potassium.

GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene that is good for your eyes.

TOMATOES are a fruit.

Drinking Cold water after a meal can lead to cancer!  For those who like to drink cold water, iced tea or coffee, etc: It is nice to have a  cold drink after a meal. However, the cold beverage will solidify any oily matter that you have just consumed. It will slow down  digestion. Once this ‘oily sludge’ reacts with the acid in your stomach, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

HEART ATTACK PROCEDURE FOR WOMEN:  You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack. Not every heart attack symptom is going to involve the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.  Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. Sixty percent of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up. Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep.

Let’s be careful and be aware. The more we know the better chance we could survive.

Caring Is Sharing 🙂
